Published: December 2008

This document presents an interview about RWN's work. "RWN was started after the 1994 genocide in response to the increased need for humanitarian support. It is a humanitarian NGO dedicated to promotion and improvement of the socio-economic welfare of women in Rwanda. Our activities are primarily directed towards enhancing women's efforts to meet their basic needs. We have various activities including construction of houses for women, rehabilitation of rape survivors and support for income-generating activities."

Key Findings

  • Women played a very significant role during the post-genocide, particularly in bringing about peace and reconstruction, and the election of such a large number of them to parliament signifies the acknowledgment that women have a role to play as leaders.
